Cañada de la Virgen

Freaking epic.

We took a day trip outside of San Miguel de Allende to visit a pyramid. What we got was a beautiful hike and some history lessons of old Mexico. Like really old. Cañada de la Virgen is “a pre-Columbian archaeological site in the Mexican state of Guanajuato.” There are about seven different structures and areas that were used as places of worship and gathering for tribes back in the day. The biggest pyramid (see above) was used as a calendar depending on where the sun set in relation to the structure (see below).
