Let’s face it - most of us don’t know sh*t about money. Some of us probably even feel overwhelmed, confused, avoidant, or ashamed about the topic. Whether we’re from immigrant families or POC communities where society has encouraged more economic struggle than financial empowerment, there is a huge lack when it comes to our money mindset and financial literacy.
The New Money Summit is a one-day event to empower people of color to build financial confidence. Through curated workshops and panels, attendees will learn about budgeting, investing, income streams, mindset, and more from relatable experts. Our goal is to start making conversations about money more transparent, approachable, and actually attainable for people of color who have no clue where to start.

MEET YOUR HOSTS
Melissa Alam is a Bangladeshi-American entrepreneur and the founder of ALAM Digital, a creative studio dedicated to amplifying BIPOC voices through bold and authentic design. Driven by a passion for personal growth and fostering community, Melissa’s latest project, The New Money Summit, aims to provide financial education to underserved communities. Inspired by her own financial wellness journey, she set out to create a space where financial literacy is taught in a way that feels relevant and relatable, breaking away from the traditional, often whitewashed, approach.
Melissa’s experience includes organizing and hosting entrepreneurship and design workshops, panels, and conferences. She is also a sought-after speaker on topics such as brand building, design, and entrepreneurship. Follow her on all social media platforms @RingTheAlam.
Umama Kibria is a serial entrepreneur and the Creative Director at Head of Social, where her passion for creating impactful experiences drives everything she does. Her journey from founder to Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and TEDx speaker has made waves in marketing, technology, and community building. Now, as a highly sought-after social media and community influencer, Umama leverages her entrepreneurial expertise and industry knowledge to build brand loyalty and drive traction for clients like Nike, Adidas, Mercedes Benz Stadium, and Bumble.
Her Why For New Money:
As a 3x founder and first-generation Bangladeshi-American, she realized the white man's playbook for startup success didn't apply to her. Over the last three years, she’s focused on building financial literacy, paying off $20k in debt, raising her credit score by 200+ points, and going from a negative net worth to $100k+. Now, she is proud to financially support her parents and invest in her next venture.
